FIH Hockey Stars Awards 2024: how does it work?

Nominees

The final shortlist was established solely by the following Expert Panel composed of players, former players, coaches and officials selected by each of their Continental Federations:

  • AHF: Tahir Zaman (PAK) and Deepika (IND)
  • PAHF: Craig Parnham (USA) and Soledad Iparraguirre (ARG)
  • EuroHockey: Simon Mason (ENG) and Janne Müller-Wieland (GER)
  • AfHF: Sarah Bennet (ZiM) and Ahmed Essmat Youssef (EGY)
  • OHF: Adam Webster (AUS) and Amber Church (NZL)

Every international match played in 2024 has been considered (all international events and official test matches), and match data was shared with the Expert Panel before establishing the final shortlists for the FIH Player of the Year, FIH Rising Star of the Year, and FIH Goalkeeper of the Year Awards.

** Not for vote - The Expert Panel will decide the winners of the FIH Coach of the Year Awards

Voting process

  • Start: 17th September 2024
  • Closure: 11th October 2024

The allocation of weights for each voting group determines the final score for each nominee as follows:

  • Expert Panel: 40%
  • National Associations (= National coach and team captain of each national team, men and women): 20%
  • Fans and other players: 20%
  • Media: 20%

Winners will be announced approx. one week after the closure of the vote.
